Why a website without positioning fails
Pretty sites still die when nobody knows what you stand for.
A store might be: they see the product, they trust the brand, they check out. If the first sentence on the site could belong to anyone in your category, they bounce.
1. The invisible site
Most owners try to “get a website.” Then ads don’t convert. SEO goes quiet. The logo looks fine. The brand is still invisible.
Complexity says rebuild everything. Usually you don’t need to. You need the missing stage: who it’s for, and why they should care now.
2. What positioning actually is
Positioning is not a tagline contest. It’s the sales process, written down, so the homepage, the ads, and the follow-up say the same thing.
- Who it is for (and who it is not for).
- The job they hire you to do.
- The proof you already have — even if it’s small.
Without that, a developer can only decorate. Decoration is not a brand.
